Non-baby names

Blogpeep Zoe, who is planning to have a baby with her partner, posted this quiz on her blog - and even without a pending child I got curious about what names the quiz thinks I like...

You Like Names that Are Retro and Fashionable

You like names that are from the past but becoming modern again.

Names with a strong history are very appealing to you.

You're a big believer in giving children very adult sounding names.

You're not a fan of nicknames or newfangled spellings.

Some female names you might like: Audrey, Emma, Fiona, Georgia, Isabelle, Naomi, Rosemary, and Veronica

Some male names you might like: Brendan, Colin, Ethan, Jared, Kenneth, Martin, and Nathaniel

Besides Emma, Colin and Nathanial none of the names appeal to me. In fact, Nathaniel is the only one I really like (maybe that comes from watching too much Six Feet Under). Maybe Isabelle would work for me with a different spelling: Isobel (again, SFU...).

Wow, I think this might be my favorite quiz ever. I have such a thing for names - when I used to write it would often take me FOREVER to name my characters because I had to get something that fit them exactly. I'm kind of ridiculously glad you posted this.

you're a writer? but wait, you said "wrote" - how come you stopped, what did you write? damnit, I really think you should have a blog, I always have to remember that clicking on your name in the comments won't yield much result.

and yes. the right name for the right character - I get it, though I didn't exactly do much coherent fictional writing myself ;)

I did playwriting in college. I graduated 2 years ago and haven't written a thing since (except a blog, which I stopped writing on almost a year ago because it was so totally pointless). I guess I got burned out on it - the play I wrote my last semester could hardly even be called a play, it was THAT BAD. Now I just write dorky comments on other people's (awesome) blogs :)

are you _at least_ on twitter?

I'm not! I'm embarrassed to admit I don't even really know what Twitter is. Mini-blogging? I'm going to be one of those old people who doesn't know to use a VCR.
