Come along with me - across the Danube

Today was the first day I rode my bike to work. I even managed to find a way that lets me stay mostly on bike paths, so I don't have to deal with crazy car traffic. And although I am sweating profusely while basically crossing half the city the view when riding across the Danube in late morning light totally makes up for it.

The water park on the "other" side of the Danube.

I like it where the sun don't shine

This is not actually a sexual (p)reference but about that thought I kept forgetting for days now. The thing is, I don't like the sun. Not when it's full-on, summer, noon, evil sun. I have mentioned before that I have issues with heat, but I realised that it's actually the sun. I hate the bugger. Especially when there's not a single movement of air as well. Which is how it is these days.
I can stand heat, I even go to the sauna and such, but the sun burning down on me just isn't something I can handle. I get crabby and aggressive. I basically scoot from shadow to shadow, almost flattening myself against the cool walls of houses.
I am pretty glad that the next couple of days it will cool down a bit. I think I'm one of the very few people who rejoice when it's raining or at least cloudy.

on a different matter: do you have any idea how practical opposable thumbs are? I just found out since I sprained my right thumb on monday during training. It was my first training session in a long time and it was my own fault (I was holding the pad in a stupid angle while someone else , someone strong, was having a go at it with his fists), but so worth it, because I really enjoyed the training in general. Unfortunately now my thumb still hurts like hell. Typing works, but writing by hand is seriously out of the question. Also, thumbs are needed for quite a lot of actions in daily life. Who woulda thought...

body-meme

my body and I aren't exactly the best of chums. which is why I decided to do this meme as seen on laura's blog.

Should you exercise more? Hell yeah. I've been sitting on this sofa far too long now. But in three weeks time I will be handing in my thesis (will will will, must must must) and I plan to start training regularly, have my ankle and my arm looked at again by my osteopath.

What concerns you most about your body? Besides my arm, my ankle and my back hurting - all the excess body fat I've accumulated bothers me. But what really really bugs me is that even my thighs have put on a bit of fat. and my thighs are usually great. hrmpf... stupid thesis, and stupid lack of discipline...

Do you like your body? occasionally. it seriously depends on my overall well-being. so right now is not a good time to ask me that.

…other people’s bodies? uhm... yeah. why wouldn't I? I mean, almost all bodies have their beauties, whether I personally see them or not.

What part of the body is the most important in the other sexe? other sex - shoulders, I love finely carved, somewhat muscular shoulders and backs. same sex: upper arms, thighs and... erm.. boobs. I gotta admit I'm into boobs, all kinds all sizes. nothing bad about that

If you could change one thing about your body, what would it be? That it constantly keeps crashing into things and having weird accidents (with bikes and walls and tables and cupboards), hurting itself in the course, ending up with chronic pains like that in my arm and my ankle.

Something else you wanted to say? I seriously need a massage though.
