karma killer?

I pretty much have the following stuck in my head:

And then you had to bring up reincarnation

over a couple of beers the other night
and now I'm serving time for mistakes
made by another in another lifetime
(Indigo Girls - Galileo)

I have no luck. I don't really know what I have done to deserve this, but somehow I always get it.
Turns out they're not budging. Not a bit. So now I have to find other ways, although I'm not very hopeful that they'll work out. If they don't, which is more realistic, I have to correct all of it.
I decided to first see if my other possibilities and strengths work out and give it until, say, July/August and then if I have to meet up with my crappy "advisor", get the corrections done and hand the shit in at the end of September.

And for now I'm putting this whole thing out of my mind as well as possible. Concentrating on work, fun, friends and having a good time.

And for today I'm going all Buffyesque: Me kick sandbag now. Want sandbag. Like sandbag. Sandbag good.

blogging from the outside

I've been meaning to blog these last couple of days, but somehow I didn't have the chance or will. But being surprised with an internet connection at my grandparents' flat in budapest (thank god for people who are too stupid to protect their wireless connection - no offense, anyone), I'm now using the good connection to catch up a bit. I did plan to finally do some reading for my thesis. But judging from my motivation I am still not ready for it. Having to graduate sucks. There, I said it.

I finally worked out again this week. First on Monday and again yesterday. Yesterday was fine, but on Monday I was this close to violently destroying the speakers at the spa area. I'm inherently no fan of so called "relaxation" or "meditation" "music", but on Monday they even played the same track over and over again. I couldn't bear to stick around for my second sauna session. They did have it fixed by yesterday, but I still don't get why you're not allowed to relax to say... silence? Shocking, isn't it... However I did enjoy the workout (and the sauna itself). At least on the elliptical trainer I can block out the imposed music by listening to The Rachel Maddow Show.

miracle of the day

no aches.
after spending a good hour on the crosstrainer yesterday I am muscle ache free today. not that I mind, but how did that happen?

I think I only lasted that long because I found out that I can read Lippmann's "Public Opinion" while working out. I only managed to read 22 pages in that one hour, but I think that's good considering the letters keep jumping up and down if your running :)

damn, I have a weird rash on my arms... yuck! probably got to close to the stovetop this morning. seriously, that's the only thing I can think of...

no sleep tonight

finn already said it all, but hey, I gotta vent too. So I don't know how it all happened but between work and housework and finishing the draft for my thesis I barely have time to breathe. Also I seem to want to spend my time watching tv and/or the bunnies. so that's not helping either.
At least my sponsor has finally answered in the affirmative so that's good.

I wrote a huge article about the Emmys today, hope it's good, am waiting for feedback now.
edit: feedback was OK.

Right now I'm doing something I haven't done in a long time: coffee. with milk. and SUGAR. not good for my sugar-free health program, but neither were the gingerbread cookies I scrounged earlier today. but I feel like I really need the sugar now, so it's ok. it's not a craving, just the certifiable knowledge that it will get me through the day. long day. whatever time I leave the office today I will go work out. just 45 min on the crosstrainer and I will be fine, but I can't even move anymore thanks to the past movement-free week and I'm really cross too. I packed my clothes and everything. must work out. even if it means getting home much later to the bunnies and the sick gf. and then I have to sit down and get some thesis reading done or I'm screwed.

at the end of this post I also want to greet a very old friend of mine: welcome back, insomnia. nope, no sleep for me.

what makes my day: this

I'm in motion again

For the last couple of months I thought this would never happen, but I have actually managed to get moving again. Not only do I mean that I went and used the crosstrainer for half an hour yesterday. I also made an appointment with the gym trainer. maybe I only did it, because he scolded me for not having trained in months (they actually threw out my training sheet!) and urged me to come see him soon for a new training plan, but the fact is I made an appointment.
My point is though that I am working again. I have no problem getting up - I actually woke up 1/2 hour before my alarm went off - I have no problem working, I'm actually getting stuff to write here at work. I seem to have landed in the nicest of all departments as well. But now... I really have to go home because I'm starving. Apparently an apple and a tall caramel macchiato since breakfast can only get you so far.

too. much. shinergy.

ok, maybe a double-session of training wasn't such a great idea. because now I'm seriously shaking and freezing from tiredness and am bothered by pains similar to a bladder infection. maybe I did overdo it today. going to bed now.

Gina "Conviction" Carano

I love girls that can kick ass. Plus she's hot and I'm majorly crushing here. But look for yourselves:

her balance is unbelievable! gets her knee kicked and doesn't even sway under the impact. also she's freakishly fast and like an energizer bunny. Here's where she fights a muay thai boxer in Thailand:

she seriously kicked that girls ass. nosebleed and all!

and here she is being incredibly cute:

please ignore the horrendous interview and editing style showtime puts to use. uch, the journalist and the cutter in me are both flinching.

you can see her on oxygen once a week when mentors the fight girls btw :)

bike drama

by the time I was walking down the stairs I was actually in the mood for doing pilates today. Like really, I was looking forward to move. Imagine my delight on realising I had gotten up early to go excercise when I found out I had a flat tire. And off I am to my favourite bike shop, I'll be dragging my ride all the way on the underground. oh well, I wanted to get a new tube anyways, might as well pay up now.

the hammock and the pains

we bought a hammock. it's taking up half our living room, but it's also - wait for it - fucking AWESOME!

my pains are not just heartaches but also real physical aches. I had three shots in my shoulder today, because it has been hurting ever since I had that bike accident last september. well now, after these three excruciating shots my shoulder hurts to a point where I can't move my arm without wincing. even typing is kinda awful. My physician has told me to go easy on it, no sports, but I can't just stop doing shinergy! I mean, I NEED the exercise, I go all grumpy and fidgety if I can't do that. So I'll go see the only doctor I can stand (I even like him!) next week: my osteopath. Let's see what he suggests.
