A guy is selling his life. Actually, he's auctioning it off on eBay. Everything he owns (house, vehicles, sports equipment, etc.) plus his friends and his job.
There are things that impress me a lot, but this one really freaks me out. I wouldn't be able to do it, I think. Just go and leave everything behind.
Have a look at the website though. Crazy...

this morning. I did, I swear. But by now I have forgotten again. However I have found a very interesting article in the NY Times that I'd like to share.
That's it for now, but I promise the moment I remember again I'm gonna blog it.

I think if Maria can write a post about when she publicly peed her pants without forever blushing then I can write about this following embarassing tidbit: I just went to the loo and realised with shock that I am wearing my panties inside out. LOL.
I am never going to get dressed while not wearing my glasses again. ever.

have I mentioned that I'm not godd with huge expenses? I get all jittery and panicky spending a lot of money on one thing. which is why finn bought the wii as a "christmas present", because she knew I'd freak if we'd go to the store together to buy it. I even felt a little unsettled when we decided on a whim to buy guitar hero - and that was "only" 90 euro. But right now, about a minute ago I ordered a Kenwood food processor for 218 euro. money we don't actually have at the moment.
someone bring me a paper bag to breathe into. or barf. I'm not picky.

my brain is fried. the horrible thesis is almost done. There's still one chapter missing, but that's not what's bothering me. What's really bothering me are all the tiny little holes in it, I'm pretty sure it reads like swiss cheese. (Although I'm almost sure cheese is non-readable even for spies looking for hidden messages.) So I'm gonna have to fill all those holes and write the missing chapter - a lot of reading up awaits me again. Unfortunately I don't feel in a position where I can actually read the shit I wrote. I usually already have problems re-reading my own articles and they're a maximum of three pages long. And here we're talking 80 pages of my own rubbish! oh yeah, and I have about a week left til the deadline. har har har. gaaaaah! buh gluh hurble gnuh....
I think I should take this evening off anyways.

1. Name: mcC, tonks, irving, löwenzahn - I like variety with my nicknames
2. Birthday: December 23
3. Where do you live: Vienna, Europe.
4. Right or Left handed: right, though you'd think I was writing with the wrong hand from what my writing looks like
5. Favorite color: red
6. Favorite sport: Skiing, shinergy. to watch: muay thai and other fighting sports
7. Biggest Fear: not being able to finish my thesis in time.
8. Status: see previous blogpost about actually getting a good amount of sleep last night.
9. Do you have a crush on someone? I think we're past crush, sad but true
Your last....
1. Cigrette: There was a time when I smoked 30 hand-rolled cigarettes a day. And then I stopped. And then I drove everyone, including myself, crazy when I went cold turkey. That was almost three years ago. Do I still miss it,? Hell, yeah! The ritual of a cigarette, yes. But definitely not in a I-want-to-start-again way. I have had a couple of occasional cigarettes since then, not even on a regular basis. But ususally they taste awful now. And I've never been tempted to start again. Yuck, being a whore to my nicotine again, no thanks.
2. Beverage: Tap Water. There's a bottle on my desk and I'm strangely thirsty today.
3. Kiss: This morning.
4. Hug: This morning.
5. Movie seen: actually AT a theatre: The Golden Compass
6. CD played: Mika Vember - Now or now.
7. Song listened to: Ani DiFranco - 78% Water
8. Bubble bath: Last week when I got home from work knackered.
9. Time you cried: I'm continuously and chronically tired - I find myself brimming with tears simply when a tree drops a leaf.
Eight Have-You-Ever's:
1. Dated one of your best friends or wanted to? Not exactly. No, I don't think you could put it like that. I never dated. But did I sleep with my friends? hm...
2. Skinny dipped: I grew up at a small lake. Go figure.
3. Kissed somebody and regretted it: I remember a certain incident where I felt like I was kissing a washing machine. yuck. unfortunately there were others to regret as well.
4. Liked someone you knew you couldn't have: Guilty as charged.
5. Been overseas: I'm not sure. If overseas from Europe includes Israel and Egypt, then yes I've been overseas. But I've never been to the U.S., Oceania or Asia.
6. Dressed in costume: Some mornings my hair decides that I should in fact be dressing up as a puck to match the hairstyle.
7. Been drunk: A lifetime ago.
8. Run away: When I was 19 I spent a couple of nights on couches because I had an enormous fight with my father. From other things I still run away everyday. Like my thesis for example.
Two Things That You Want To Be When You Grow Up:
1. Huh?
2. Grow up?
Jeez, I actually enjoyed this meme. Now back to work I am.

Guess who had finally made a plan to go to the library today and read read read for her thesis? The same one that got called into work with a helpless cry of "We're swamped!" Well, they were swamped, I did a whole page on my own basically. But let me tell you something: I'm swamped too. I have a thesis due beginning of April, and I should be working only three days a week. I've been thinking about taking time off in March, but now I'm beginning to wonder how the hell that should be possible with that chronically underemployed newsroom I'm working in. And I'm still working for a monthly magazine as well. By the way do check out my newest article in our January issue on the student pages - an Interview with a lesbian activist university lecturer. Hell, be noble and check out our whole January issue ;)
Don't get me wrong, there's no problem in working - I love my work most of the time - (there is a problem with writing a thesis). What really bugs me is that I don't have time for the things I love privately. The things that fulfill me, the writing that I want to get done that is not work - basically all that is art to me within me. It's not much, for instance I can't paint to save my life ;) but there is comparably a lot burning in me these days. It's all so feverishly ardent when I'm moving - to work, from work - when I'm listening to Mika Vember who's music has developed a strange grip on me, the lyrics speaking to me as strongly as not many do. But once I "rest" at my desk, confronted with my daily tasks or get home knackered from said tastks it all gets drenched in routine.
Finn and I have been talking about a project lately, and this is one that we're really going to go through with for a change - we just didn't have enough energy for that last plan of ours, commune we wanted to build ;) But this one is a good one. Seriously. And my head is swimming with ideas that I want to realise, ideas that if realised will make me a happier person. The problem is that right now I don't have time. If I had time, my mind would probably be an endless, idea-dry desert.
Seriously. I wrote my last short story forever ago, the last poem in what seems like a different lifetime. Before Christmas I read John Irving's Cider House Rules and after the initial reluctance I always experience at the beginning of his books again this one gripped after about 50 pages and didn't release me. I wanted to blog about it, about John Irving's genius story telling, about his ability to craft these enormous colorful images in my mind, drawing me in completely while always maintaining that familiar and appreciated tone of sarcasm. Guess what, I didn't find the time to do it and now it's two weeks later and the words I had are pretty much lost.
Damnit, I want my life back, I want my music back and I want my words back!
Can you tell how driven I'm feeling?

My mum wants us to set up her computer again, because it's completely fucked and slow and horrible. She's been asking us for two years now. And for two years we've been telling her that she first has to back-up her data. Today she asked me for help again. Me: "Mum, have you backed up your data? We can't set it up unless you've got all your stuff burned to DVDs."
Apparently she "doesn't have time for that"... no wait, she "doesn't have the leisure to do it". Ultimately it changed to "I can't do it!". For fuck's sake I know that she knows how to burn a goddamn DVD! And it's not like she's constantly working (freelancer).
I stood firm: No can do until you back-up. Consequently she hung up on me quite abruptly, pretending everything was fine. Mother ...

I see horrible things on the horizon. the bunnies will forget me and soon will the girlfriend as well - she's easily distracted too, like bunnies. or goldfish. no wait, that's me. look! a rainbow!

I have been meaning to blog all week, I have loads of stuff to foodblog about as well as some screen and sound things. unfortunately I am particularly swamped at work this week and running from appointment to appointment in the evenings. and once I get home I just wanna crash. I'll try to finally put something up today after I've written two articles and the tv tips. for example I could offer two soup day recipes and a movie review... yum.

I just had to take this
OK, mine looked different. I actually had to drink a bottle of that stuff. tastes pretty sweet but at the end of the bottle I already resented the sweetness. yuck. now I'm basically waiting for it to start. make room! the toilet is mine!
sorry for those who are oh so easily disgusted by all things human. I really have to take this with humour. for my own sanity's sake.
speaking of humour: how grand is it that the supplement on the picture is called "evacuant kit"? what the fuck? "We're evacuating the bowel! Women and children first!" ???

I have just lost my couch of 15 years. Some people that found it on ebay came to get it just now. they seemed like nice people though and they gave us money for it. now we can buy a new couch, which I'm sure I'll be looking forward too soon again, but right now I'm mourning for my old couch.
We shared a lot of memories, you know, most of them x-rated anyways, but some of them were pretty normal standard memories. Like the tiny brown specks over one of its sides came from when someone burst out laughing while drinking red wine at what I think was my 17th birthday party... I curled up on that couch every time I had to bawl my eyes out because I was upset. It was my couch, my bed, sometimes I basically lived on it, with tv and food in reach. It has seen the worst and the best of me. I really loved this couch. I always will. sigh...
All this of course would be half as tragic if my hormones weren't all over the place today. Up to now I almost started crying when finn brought me flowers or when she hugged me too tight this morning. PMS officially sucks.
